Using CT and MRI in East Asia countries with similar health care systems, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, along with their leverage toward economic development, are primary concerns of policymakers in setting up public health strategies. Thus, this study aimed to compare the characterization of the natio

nwide direction of high-end medical imaging usage and its influence on the gross domestic product (GDP).Descriptive analysis was conducted, annual growth rate and cumulative CT and MRI usage percentage under the National Health Insurance Coverage. Pearson correlation model analyzed its relationship

with GDP, and panel regression analysis was performed. In addition, Lorenz Curve and Gini Coefficient were also performed to assess the equity status of CT and MRI numbers.CT and MRI usage in both countries grew with the fluctuated pattern recently and moved with a lower speed in the current year. I

n the same year, the yearly growth rate of Korea (average growth rate of 8.72%) was higher than Taiwan (average growth rate of 6.90%) and Japan (average growth rate of 2.19%) for CT scans during the five years. As for MRI scans, Korea indicated the opposite direction in the past three years (2017-20

19) from the other two countries. During that period, Taiwan and Japan decreased from 9.45% to 2.04% and 3.14% to 1.29%, respectively. Meanwhile, Korea elevated swiftly from 4.35% to 50.82%. In addition, CT and MRI usage positively correlated with economic development. CT and MRI installation in bot
