六堆客籍作家曾喜城《村長手記》之研究

本論文以六堆客籍作家曾喜城手著的《村長手記》作為研究的文本，探究曾喜城自2002至2006年擔任屏東縣內埔鄉美和村第17屆村長，如何以社區營造的理想，建設美和新故鄉，以及作者在村長任內所遇到的挫折。為了對作者有更深入的了解，論文先對曾喜城成長的背景，以及遠去台北擔任教師作生平介紹，同時也介紹了曾喜城多年以來的文學創作，並歸結到曾喜城2019年創作出版的《村長手記》作為研究的內容。論文的研究方法，文獻參考部分以《村長手記》為主要研讀的文本，加上1988年出版的《台灣客家文化研究》，以及相關的著作。為了深入探討寫作的背景，研究者也曾進入美和村作田野調查(Field work)。並訪談了當年的掃地

志工、鄰近國小的校長，以及在曾喜城擔任村長時候的雕刻藝術家。研究的結果，發現一位文化工作者，在外地工作多年後，參與家鄉的社區營造，不僅有崇高的理想，還有許多在外地學習到的經驗，是很優秀的文史工作者。可惜離開家鄉30年後，和村民之間有疏離感，加上村民不一定了解曾喜城一心想建設「美和新故鄉」的理想，讓他充滿了挫折，最後四年任期結束，即再回到學校去從事教職，何嘗不是一件遺憾的事。研究的結論建議是：村民選擇一位有豐富的經驗，以及充滿理想的人，以社區營造的方法打造新故鄉是非常好的事。那麼村長要如何與村民溝通，獲得村民認同與支持，則是從事政治工作最重要的課題，何況村長是最基層的政治工作者，與村民打成一片才

是成功的關鍵。未來盼望有更多一樣充滿理想又有經驗的人，出來擔任村長，打造自己的「新故鄉」。
